Hope & Heavy Metal

choreographers

Sigrid Stigsdatter Mathiassen

Hope & Heavy Metal is a legitimate attempt to recover the mastery over the body. A  soft call to smash patriarchy for good.

Sigrid Stigsdatter creates  a physical and visual music album live on stage. We follow a female performer up close, a complicated character. Her body is revealed as a personal memoir full of images, physical confrontations and songs that are stuck in her head.

In this solo performance Sigrid researches pre-consisting ideas of the female body. How does this body deal with loneliness, rage and sensuality? Sometimes wild then again serene, she works with, against and through these prevailing ideas.

Hope & Heavy Metal is a collaboration with musician and visual artist Juliet Aaltonen

'Gradually, everything appears to be fitting into each other, a color in a word, the size of the things at a feeling or the gravity of a movement at a memory. ... The choice to stay gentle is a hard one. God bless them twentysomethings...' Wendy Lubberding for Theaterkrant >>>
