Roberto de Jonge brings guilt, violence and mourning from MacBeth

Unter den Teppich by choreographer Roberto de Young is a bold and energetic game with loaded images and ritual lineups. The performers and spectators share the floor. What does it mean to be a spectator in times of global dissemination of news? What do we do and don't get to see and how do we deal with that?

The inner turbulence that the two powerful performers share with their audience, is based on the female voices from Macbeth and arises from questions about guilt and innocence, violence and mourning.

The theatre as a place where people can enter into a confrontation with the elusiveness of so much violence. The theatre as a place where we tend to cover up or deny violence.
With Unter den Teppich Roberto De Jonge returns to the theatre. As a Director and choreographer and together with Maria Voortman, he acquired in the 90 's international fame with performances as Feverish ProcessionsQuest for Rest (winner on concours de Bagnolet, Paris) and Reparations. For Scapino Ballet Rotterdam they made Dangerous Choir and Laat me met mij meegaan, a solo dancer in which dancer Bryndis Brynjolfsdotti danced it again in Twools 12.
Unter den Teppich is an intense physical experience that at the same time, offers distance and reflection. The performers are close to the skin, but also always respects the millimeters away distance needed to make own choices.
