Glittergods/Stigma - Jesús de vega/ICK
Celebrating the LGBTQI+ community progress towards equal rights is essential, but there are still 72 countries where homosexuality is outlawed. In some of them, the penalty is death. GlitterGods/Stigma presents the contrast between two different realities: acceptance and discrimination.
The piece focuses on the friction between opposing experiences: freedom and oppression, pride and shame, love and hate… Jesús De Vega invites the audience to experience a catwalk in which these contrasting experiences play out.
Through a set of restrictions (physical, spatial, rhythmical...) the performers expose their quest to find their freedom, their way to shine, their strengths and their fragilities.
GlitterGods/Stigma is an ode to love and acceptance, a thank you to the LGBTQI+ figures that fight for equal rights.
Jesus de Vega is a Supported Artist at ICK Amsterdam.
HYPER REAL BROMANCE - Nicolas Roses Ponce, Vincent Riebeek
The pas de deux - traditionally performed by a man and a woman, laying bare the power relationships between them. In Hyper Real Bromance the pas de deux is more freely interpreted. They flirt with the limits of what's possible in the theatre, as well as address the limitations of a society based on binaries. The performance has the potential of being a hyper real experience, for both performer and spectator, and invites us to engage with this quest for sincerity in unconventional ways.

About Dansmakers Amsterdam Welcomes
With the program series Dansmakers Amsterdam Welcomes we draw attention to pieces by new choreographic talent. During a full length evening program one or more choreographers present their work which can be read as urgent, open and that must be seen. Dansmakers Amsterdam supports their development and provides them a stage.
