Associated with Dansmakers Amsterdam since 2015
Chronos is a collective consisting of four dance artists, based in Amsterdam. During theireducation in Modern Theatre Dance at the Amsterdam School of the Arts, where they graduated in 2016, they already shared artistic ideas. During their last year in the school they founded the collective. With the support of Dansmakers Amsterdam they were able to make their first steps towards becoming a professional dance collective with an own artistic vision. In 2015 Chronos made the side-program for the Moving Furturs festival in Amsterdam and they created their first piece: Moreless.
Chronos makes dance pieces that are physical, theatrical and poetic. The body is the instrument for expression, but the goal of the work is to also transmit a certain theme, feeling or message. The work is accessible and focusses on topics that everyone can relate to. Within the performances, Chronos wants to challenge their audience to reconsider their opinion on the chosen topic, by showing different aspects and by offering a dialogue.
In March 2017 the collective made their first full-evening piece, The Simple Past, inspired by nostalgia and trust. In April 2018 they premiered their new piece The Three Graces, a performance about the female body as portrayed in Baroque paintings. Next to making performances Chronos teaches workshops and classes in different places in The Netherlands.
