Andrea Zavala Folache
At Dansmakers since 2017
Andrea Zavala (1987, SP) studied Fine Arts at Complutense University of Madrid and is currently studying choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam.
With an interest in the exploration of the limits of the medium, Andrea has moved from drawing, installations and video into dance, and is the exposure of these mediums that creates the grammar in which to place flexible identities in performance. Recently she has been busy figuring out the potentiality of dance existing in temporal conditions. Her works have been presented at Teatro Pradillo Madrid, Juan Gallery Madrid, the Center of Contemporary Art Thessaloniki (Greece), Kunstschlager Stofa, Reykjavík Art Museum (Iceland), Proyector Video Art Festival, Intercambiador ACART (Madrid), Flutgraben gallery (Berlin), Xiamen Culture and Art Center (China), Frascati Theater (Amsterdam), Veem House for Performance (Amsterdam), Friends With Benefits Festival (Brussels), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Camera Japan Festival (Rotterdam).
