About: Moving Futures, the network

The network
Born, not only, out of a great sense of responsibility for the talents of starting choreographers, but also too keep diversity in the Dutch contemporary dance, Dansateliers (Rotterdam), DansBrabant, Dansmakers Amsterdam, Random Collision (Groningen) and Generale Oost (Arnhem) started a constructive dialogue and collaboration.

The organizations sees a gap when it comes to the visibility and performance opportunities for young and little known talents. Each partner started a collaboration in his or her city with a theater. This theater commits to the network by programming these young artists in a festival format. In addition, we explore the possibility for one choreographer a year to go through a development trajectory in the participating production houses. The launch of the new network took place during PUNCH! in Amsterdam, where the work of one maker from each of the organizations involved was presented.

Moving Futures Festival
Moving Futures is a new festival that will travel to six cities, presenting work by young emerging choreographers. Dansmakers that dare to touch contemporary issues, that seek interfaces in human behavior, philosophy and science and that challenge the audience with their performances, installations, tours, dinners and parties. Five (tallent) developers in dance, Dansmakers Amsterdam, Dansateliers Rotterdam, DansBrabant Tilburg, Random Collision Groningen and Generale Oost Arnhem, join forces, working together with theaters in their own towns in order to let people experience dance, inside and outside of theaters, with an extensive program and workshops. Moving Futures moves your city!
