At the age of eight Sheyda Darab moved to the Netherlands as a political refugee. Here she was raised as an autodidact in the underground hip hop scene. She also felt at ease in the theatre. She sees every dancer as an individual with an authentic personality and statement. Through dance, Darab wants to bring this statement to the fore.
She is a former Ibiza dancer, has danced for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Ja Rules pre-show, Nike, Madonna’s Afterparty and the MTC International Tour. Currently she works for Aya Danstheater and in 2010 she started her choreographic career at Dansmakers Amsterdam.
She has a passion for choreography, theatre and the so-called 'urban culture'. She is an autodidact 'urban' dancer. As a newcomer she wants to make her way into the theatre with pure, raw forms and 'out-of-the-box' character.
