Sacha Steenks

Sacha Steenks (1971, Netherlands) received her dance training at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Eleven years she danced with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, where she was seen in works by choreographers such as Ed Wubbe, Krisztina de Châtel and Itzik Galili.
After her career as a dancer with the Scapino Ballet she has a period of traveling and became interested in improvisational techniques. She attended workshops with Katie Duck, Julyen Hamilton, Kurt Koegel, Michael Schumacher and Kirstie Simson.
As a freelancer, she danced in performances by Sjoerd Vreugdenhil and Andre Gingras.

She made her first choreography at the Scapino Ballet, Closed Timelike Curves. This piece was included in the repertoire and toured throughout  the Netherlands. The company invited her two more times to work for TWOOLS, an annual returning evening of short dance pieces by different choreographers.

In Rotterdam, Dansateliers Steenks made three choreographies: Tongue-Tied, No title written in black and A democratic head. She also participated in the international project The migrant body.

In 2007 she made for Picnic Panic Dance Company Krisztina de Châtel, 4 JV for the show, which toured the Netherlands.
Since 2008 Sacha part of the ACE project of DWA.
